'Unfortunately, we regret to inform you that due to the ongoing and worsening Coronavirus outbreak in the UK and abroad, we have reluctantly decided to put the JWFS 46th Convention on hold until the Autumn, when we believe that things will be getting back to normal.

All members who have booked Tickets already who want to carry them forward until the Autumn, will have their names entered into a Raffle which will be drawn at the Convention- the Winner will receive a £15.00 Gift Voucher to spend with us.

We will be announcing the new date for the October Convention in the next 2 to 3 months when hopefully the situation will be more stable and will allow us to plan forward again.'

The Films To Be Screened Are:-

Directed by John Ford

At 11.00am – DIRECTED BY JOHN FORD (110 Minutes Colour)

In 1971, Peter Bogdanovich made a fascinating documentary about the legendary John Ford in which Henry Fonda, James Stewart and John Wayne revealed first hand tales about the man often cired as America’s greatest, most influential filmmaker.

Then in 2006, thirty-five years later, there were more stories to tell– by, amongst others Clint Eastwood, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg and Katherine Hepburn.

Bogdanovich wove these new interviews into a re-edited, restructured documentary offering a more personal vision of the man and his work.

Packed with clips, anecdotes and insights, Directed by John Ford is a treasure for film buffs, for new classic Film fans and for rising filmmakers who in another 35 years will want to share how Ford’s work impacts their own.

12.50pm: Lunchtime - Lunch and Refreshments are available in the Canteen together with all of the John Wayne Memorabilia, until 2.30pm Raffle Prize Draw in the theatre, and then.....

At 2.45pm - SHE WORE A YELLOW RIBBON (104 Minutes Colour)

On the verge of his retirement at Fort Starke, a one-troop cavalry post, aging US Cavalry Captain Nathan Cutting Brittles (John Wayne) is given one last mission: to take his troop and deal with a breakout from the reservation by the Cheyenne and Arapaho following the defeat of George Armstrong Custer at the Battle of the Little Big Horn.

Brittles' task is complicated by being forced at the same time to deliver his commanding officer's wife and niece, Abby Allshard (Mildred Natwick) and Olivia Dandridge (Joanne Dru), to an eastbound stage and by the need to avoid a new Indian war.

She wore a yellow ribbon

His troop officers, 1st Lt. Flint Cohill (John Agar) and 2nd Lt. Ross Pennell (Harry Carey, Jr.), meanwhile vie for the affections of Miss Dandridge while uneasily anticipating the retirement of their captain and mentor. Assisting him with his mission is Capt. Brittles' chief scout, Sgt. Tyree (Ben Johnson), a one-time Confederate cavalry officer; his first sergeant, Quincannon (Victor McLaglen); and Maj. Allshard (George O'Brien), Brittles' long-time friend and commanding officer.

4.30pm - Thank you for coming and have a Safe Journey Home.
